Talking animals, epic adventures, and an animal fantasy. Inspired to grow the inner hero in your child’s heart.
Join Bo the Great Pyrenees and his best friend, Mr. Quillery the bobwhite quail, on their adventures as the sheriffs of the Riverdill Lands. The day starts off as a typical patrol at the enchanting Riverdill Farmhouse, but takes an unexpected twist when one of Mrs. Hen’s precious chicks mysteriously disappears. As Bo and Mr. Quillery embark on a quest to find the lost chick, they follow the chick’s tracks to the perilous quarry, encountering the Hissy Gang and obstacles at every corner.
The twin sheriffs must use teamwork, quick thinking, and bravery as they rescue the lost chick from danger. Set in a contemporary western world of kid-friendly fantasy, the magical realism woven into this world is a perfect blend of reality and righteous imagination. Full of heartwarming friendships, epic adventures, and valuable examples of self-control and courage, this is the perfect read for young adventurers as they navigate their own journeys in life.
If you enjoy Hank the Cowdog, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the stories of Redwall, then you shouldn’t overlook The Lost Chick, the initial installment of The Adventures of Bo and Mr. Quillery series, comprised of nine kids’ fantasy chapter books.
This series is written for young readers grades 1st-4th. Soon to be available in print, audiobook, and e-book format.
About Andrew K. Johnston. . . Call me Kody though
Kody Johnston is the author of “The Adventures of Bo and Mr. Quillery,” a child-friendly animal fantasy that is written to touch the heart of children everywhere.
He invites you to step into a world where ordinary animals become extraordinary heroes! Inspired by past and present pets, Kody's stories blend the charm of country life with the thrills of Western adventure, with the aim of growing the inner-hero in every child's heart.
His tales are more than just exciting escapades; they're journeys of character building, where virtues triumph and the forces of light shatter the forces of darkness. When he's not crafting these inspiring narratives with the help of his children, you might find this tech-loving author building technology, homeschooling his kids, gardening, or exploring the realms of fantasy—much like the heroes of his favorite books, Redwall, Narnia, The Stormlight Archives, and Lord of the Rings.
With a Master's Degree in Nursing and a lifelong passion for kid-friendly virtuous fantasy and world-building, Kody brings a unique blend of righteous imagination to his writing. The Lost Chick marks his debut as a children's author and the first book in the “Adventures of Bo and Mr. Quillery” series.
Kody lives in Waco, Texas, with his incredible wife, Erin, and their four children, Aven, Arden, Waverley, and Felicity.
